This is one of my favorite all-time possessions. I found it on Palm Beach here in Dar. The man who wore it sewed it up with many different kinds of line on numerous occasions. There is a tear on the edge of the shoe that is sewn in fishing line. The inside of it, when I found it, was lined with a used slipper, like a flip flop slipper. Nevertheless, the sole had worn through, and I guess in the end this shoe just chucked itself off the Dao one day there in the bay where I scavenge. I put the little face inside and my heart sings every time my eyes land on this pair of things. I wish I knew the fisherman; he was a resourceful person, and creative.
