We spent a summer snorkeling and caving on Cayman Brac, the remote island in the British West Indies that has almost no tourism. On the beach one day we saw a huge missile in front of a beach house and we went in and met the man inside. Ronald Foots Kynes is an artist but goes by Mr. Foots. He had the coolest sliced conch shells he was making by the boxload just because he liked to do so. We asked him for one and he gave us an entire box as a gift. Then we got to meet his pet hermit crabs. He hand feeds them with soaked barley and they live, several thousand of them, in the lower floor of his beachhouse.
