Case Bound Hand Sewn 156 page Shag Junk Journal with Handtorn Paper in Antique Canvas Book Cover with Brass Edges & Genuine Ephemera

I bought this antique book in Hermanus South Africa. The red canvas is old and distressed.  What is wonderful about it is the little girl who owned it was an excellent student and almost every page has her handwritten notes on it.  I’ve included one original page with this journal.  It has an 100% real silk ribbons.  There is a bit of decor on the inner pages including a quote from Robert Frost.

There are pieces of ephemera: an original page from this book that I painted a Day of the Dead stencil on and a handmade dried flower bit with a key.

There are genuine ephemera that came with the book and that I’m keeping with the book, so these are yours also.  There’s a darling black and white photo of children in South Africa, possibly the younger version of the girl who owned this book and her baby brother, but of course we will never know, and also a badly bent but real Victorian cigarette card of Anne Boleyn.  (Certainly from a South African pack of cigarettes)

The book is a bit 3D in the sense that I pasted a small bow and a tiny flower into the front page and some gears onto the back page.

I hand stenciled a 5 on the cover and a zebra on the back.
