Case Bound Hand Sewn 1,080 page Capetown Directory Junk Journal with Handtorn Paper in Antique Canvas Book Cover with Brass Edges & Ephemera

I bought this antique book in Hermanus South Africa. The red canvas is old and distressed and has a fairly pronounced warp and bleached area on the back cover.  It has a heavy acrylic varnish on it.  It has an 100% real silk gold ribbon.  There is a bit of decor on the inner pages including a quote from David Bowie.  The pages are made from very very soft white handmade paper.

THIS BOOK USES VERY SOFT PAPER GOOD FOR SCRAPBOOKING AND JUNK JOURNALS, BUT NOT FOR WRITING IN w/MARKERS AS THE PAGES WILL BLEED THROUGH.

There are pieces of ephemera: an original page from this book that I painted a Chinese lion stencil on, another page from an antique book with a soldier overlaid, and then a butterfly dog ephemera bit.

PAPERS: The pages inside are handmade beige paper and quite thin and soft.

EDGES:  This book has brass edges added to the top and bottom of the cover in front and back.  These have been hammered on by hand – they’re there to keep the edges crisp.
