The Maasai in Tanzania send some of their warriors into town to sell carvings to give money to their family back home. The warriors are on the beaches carrying little carvings and beaded jewelry. Here in Dar the Maasai guard your vehicle wherever you park, as this is actually quite a dangeorus city. The warrior Maasai are gorgeous; they are very tall and very thin with ropey, perfect muscles and long braids. They wear cuffs of beads on the ankles and in their hair. I came to Kenya as a 16 year old girl with my father, and whilst we were in the Maasai Mara one of the chiefs offered my father a herd of goats for my hand in marriage. My dad did not accept the bargain.
