I love these little dragons so much. I bought them on the sidewalk in Foshan, China, and they symbolize all that is splendid about China. Dragons impart luck, power, and strength. There is nothing simple about the Chinese concept of luck, though I’ve seen it misunderstood in the west. Luck is a dense, complex concept that is intricately connected to balance and choice, as well as to honorable behavior. I respect the staggering depth of Chinese philosophy and the clarity behind its completely obfuscating appearance of simplicity. During Chinese New Year, when the cities explode into gold and red ribbons, orange trees, drums, and dragons, you see the glamour of China and the joy of it too.
