We drove all the way across Jordan from Amman to Petra to the Dead Sea. Everywhere are shepherds, all with beautifully decorated donkeys. Jordan remains my very favorite country in the world. They have divine food – especially the hummus with local oregano on top. These little sheep markers are some of my very favorite things, because they are handmade by shepherd’s wives from scraps of cloth and they are used to mark one herd from another. Just thinking of them makes my heart sing.
