Vulcan Safety Match Flaming Lights Matchbook Magnet (MM121)

Sweden is the real matchcover king – the original home of the safety match! One summer we spent hiking the Kungsleden in Sweden, 273 miles over 39 days, (440 km) and then we spent 10 days in Stockholm and of course I had to go to the matchcover museum! I’m crazy for this precious matchbook because I love Sweden and their country actually had a HUGE impact on the matchcover business.  If you ever have a chance to hike that trail, the Kungsleden (You can see loads of photos here on the site if you look.), it is the most beautiful trail in the world, seriously.  It’s so pretty that it just takes your breath away.  Early on in our camping trip I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night (In Sweden in summer the sun never sets – it’s above the Arctic Circle, so you never need a flashlight or anything.)  So I go outside, do what I need to do, and then. much later, I wake up because there is like this GIGANTIC thing right beside our tent sniffing.  I can tell it’s big because it’s fucking SNIFFING through a very, very big nose.  I figure we are all going to be eaten by a polar bear (There are NOT polar bears in Sweden.)  So, you know, I panic, and as I do that I shifted in my sleeping bag and I scared the shit out of the reindeer that was smelling what I’d just done.  I realized it was a reindeer in a moment as it clippity clopped off in terror when I moved.  If you ever do hike in Sweden, remember that reindeer are super keen on urine, they love the salt in it, so pee far away from your tent. All GypsyFaith magnets are double the strength of a normal refrigerator magnet; this magnet will hold several pieces of paper to a surface without sliding. The surface is textured, so it does not scratch. We developed it over a period of several years with our production partner in China. It took us a long, long time to get to this PVC product. Our intention, as we developed this product, was to make it as durable as our handmade magnet products were when we first began selling them more than 14 years ago.

Images used to make our magnets are scanned at 9600dpi resolution, reduced to 960dpi for production.

SIZE: This magnet is exactly 1.835 x 2.362 inches OR 4.66 x 5.999 cm (It is about the size of the original matchcover.)

PACKAGING: This magnet is packaged in a hard plastic container for retail sale, then we place it into the mailer.

It ships in a hand addressed, postage stamped padded mailer.
