Timberline Lodge Oregon’s Year-Round Playground on the slopes of Mount Hood Matchbook Magnet (MM126)

OY! This was hard to rescue, but the scene – a crackling fire, a cozy rug, the heavy stone – all conjure up such a delightful feel for the magnificence of Oregon in winter, I just had to do it. It’s a monumentally beautiful place, Mount Hood and the hotel is culturally and historically so important.  It’s sooooo cool that this was the exterior of the scary hotel in The Shining, a movie that scared the living crap out of me as a kid.  This place has such a pedigree.  It was dedicated by FDR himself, after being constructed entirely by local artisans.  They even reused discarded cedar utility poles they purchased for $2.10USD and then hand carved with local wildlife.  The fire screens in the lodge were made from old  tire chains and rail ties.  The local women actually made hooked rugs using old Civilian Conservation Corps. blankets.  (We sell that matchcover/magnet too!), and the architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood was the same man who designed the famous Ahwahnee in Yosemite (We sell that cover/magnet too!).  The whole place is a work of art after my own heart – the whole heritage – folkart and faith – is embedded in this wonderful place.

All GypsyFaith magnets are double the strength of a normal refrigerator magnet; this magnet will hold several pieces of paper to a surface without sliding. The surface is textured, so it does not scratch. We developed it over a period of several years with our production partner in China. It took us a long, long time to get to this PVC product. Our intention, as we developed this product, was to make it as durable as our handmade magnet products were when we first began selling them more than 14 years ago.

PACKAGING: This magnet is packaged in a hard plastic container for retail sale, then we place it into the mailer.

It ships in a hand addressed, postage stamped padded mailer.
