Space Needle 1962 Seattle World’s Fair Matchbook Sticker (MB384)

They could not find a spot for this idea – the idea of a Space Needle.  So, with only 12 months left before the opening of the fair, a teensie area was located 120 x 120 US feet or 37 x 37 meters.  Then there was concern about the ability of something so tall and thin to withstand the significant and frequent earthquakes that routinely happen on the west coast of the US.  They dug an outrageously deep foundation for the needle; 467 concrete trucks were required to fill it in just a day’s time.  Then the whole structure was bolted into the concrete by 72 bolts, each bolt being 30 US feet or 9.1 meters long.  They had some fun with the colors too – they painted the building with custom named “Orbital Olive”, “Re-entry Red”, “Astronaut White”, and “Galaxy Gold”.    The final bit – which was pretty important, was the elevator – and it was installed literally 24 hours prior to the opening of the fair.  Such a fabulous project of singular passion.  Wonderful.

All GypsyFaith die-cut vinyl stickers are printed on glossy, premium, extra thick vinyl.  We then seal the image in clear laminate so that it will be particularly resistant to fading or tearing.  We will only sell the absolute top end of any particular product on our site.  Our intention, as we developed this product, was to make it as durable and valuable as our magnet products.

Images used to make our stickers are scanned at 9600dpi resolution, reduced to 960dpi for production.

It ships in a photo-type mailer to prevent bending.
