I love the Thai writing on this matchcover.  We spent a glorious summer in a stilt house on the ocean on a remote island in Thailand called Koh Tao.  One of my favourite possessions is this tear-off ad I pulled from a telephone pole on Koh Tao.  I have a photo of it on this site.  The handwritten ad is for anyone who might want to hook up with a captain and go on a sea voyage.  I loved that, that someone was posting these ads, looking for fellow adventurers.  Now that little piece of paper is framed in in our house.  One of the most glorious things about Thailand is that every single home has its own altar.  The Thai altars, for the practice of Buddhism, comprise an enormous percentage of the household, and span the entire front length of the houses.  There is a great deal of power and truth in Buddhism, and you certainly see the results of serious practice of that faith when you spend a lot of time in Thailand.  The monks are so happy, big, benevolent smiles on their faces.  They often gave their food to our son, back then, when he was very little.  It was normally like a yogurt drink.  So when I see these coins and found this cover, I was delighted to be able to celebrate Thailand.
