Minnesota Twins 1965 World Series Matchbook Sticker (MB88)
The original idea for the name of this team, when it moved from Washington, DC to Minnesota, was unity. The two men in the logo have different jerseys on, one stands for Minneapolis Millers, the other Saint Paul’s Saints. The same year they moved to Minnesota the Twins won 91 games, their best season in more than 25 years. Pretty soon they had Rod Carew, one of the best hitters of all time, playing for them, and the number 1 second baseman in the Twins’ history.
I know plenty of people from Minnesota and they are all of a kind – very plainspoken, excellent sense of humor, and keen appreciators of beer. So, that fact, in combination with my passion for baseball made it impossible not to go ahead and rescue this old cover. Love these two slouchy players shaking hands over the Minnesota River!
