Hotel Taft New York at Radio City Matchbook Sticker (MB358)

The green on this cover is wonderful.    I also love how the logo has that deepening shadow below that sort of mimics an architectural drawing.  So CBS radio broadcast from the hotel every day from Monday through Saturday at noon.  The hotel band’s signature song was Love Letters in the Sand.   Part of the history of this old place is that the father of country music,  Jimmie Rodgers, died at the hotel two days after making his final recording.  So the Taft, when it still existed, had a a life long love affair with music, which is a cool trait for a hotel and contradicts their theme song of insecure, sandy love letters – the hotel was quite loyal to what it loved – music.
