So here’s this really rich guy  – NBT Roney – who was just another lawyer working in New Jersey who apparently woke up one day and said, “I think I’ll build a bad ass hotel in Miami.”  The Roney Hotel was a magnificent triangular building and its swanky bar, the Bamboo Room was THE hangout for Hollywood in Miami, and often served drinks to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor when they were in town.  I totally dig the name Bamboo Room – so exotic – I’d want to drink gin martinis with onions in a clubby corner booth, likely until I was totally smashed and then I’d want to make out with my husband on the way up to our room.
